WHAT IS CUPPING?
“Cupping” is an ancient oriental medicine technique that detoxifies, releases pain and muscle tension, improves digestion, break ups congestion, and supports lung health (among other things).
HOW DOES CUPPING WORK?
During the treatment, your acupuncturist will apply special glass cups to your skin with natural suction created by the removal of air. The suction gently draws your skin and superficial muscle layer into the cup.
Your acupuncturist will place the cups along specific acupuncture points, meridians, and/or on painful regions of the body.
Depending upon your needs, the cups may be moved gently along the surface of the skin using massage oil or lie in a stationary position.
WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?
The sensation is that of a gentle pulling in the area of application, or you may experience an even deeper, stronger sensation depending on your needs and preference. The treatment is generally very relaxing and is somewhat comparable to a medium-to-deep-tissue massage.
Many patients report immediate relief.
HOW LONG DOES A CUPPING TREATMENT LAST?
Cupping is usually experienced with an acupuncture treatment but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone service.
A session normally takes 20-30 minutes, but the health results will last for days/weeks to come.

WHAT IS GUA SHA?
Gua Sha, a traditional technique also known as “scraping”, is often performed in conjunction with a cupping treatment.
Your acupuncturist will perform a gentle scraping of the skin on specific acupuncture points (emphasis on gentle, this technique is not painful or invasive) using a stone tool made jade or porcelain.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF GUA SHA?
Gua Sha is often performed on the nape of the neck or shoulders, and is an excellent tool to bring about quick relief for headaches and migraines, pain and tension, or for early signs of colds.
